Consumer Perspective Supervision
Working as a peer support worker or consumer / carer consultant is a very rewarding career - but as fulfilling a career that it is, it can be very challenging. As a Lived Experience Worker (LEW) you may need to be able to work in a clinical environment, manage your own personal health and wellbeing, sit with hearing about some difficult experiences from your consumers and more.
Supervision is crucial for any mental health professional and lived experience workers are no different. A positive working relationship with your supervisor can play an important part in a LEW's professional development.
I currently provide supervision to peer support workers through my role as a Senior Lived Experience Worker at St Vincent's Community Mental Health. Along with providing supervision, I have also designed and implemented orientation and onboarding plans for lived experience staff. In addition to this, I have also provided mentorship to recovered speakers from The Butterfly Foundation, to assist with their transition in the advocacy space.
If you choose to have your supervision with me, I will provide you with the following:
- Supervision from a LEW worker with over 12 years of experience and trained in Consumer Perspective Supervision (CPS) through Victorian Mental Illness Awareness Council (VMIAC) and Inside Out
- A confidential, safe space to talk about your lived experience worker career
- Guidance and mentorship from a peer support worker and lived experience consultant with over 10 years of experience in the mental health sector
- An opportunity to work through real scenarios from your career that may be proving to be challenging
- A flexible and adaptive space where the focus will be on you and your career
Rates: $150 AUD p/hr
Price is negotiable for those who are paying privately for supervision.
